Sea from Cliff, St Ives
4  Sea from Cliff, St Ives - Oil painting by Michael Strang

Spring - cliffs alive with bluebells and campion. Below, the waves beating against the rocks, speaking in a mysterious voice of things that are beyond our understanding, but the essence of which one hopes to trap in the vermillions, cadmiums, ochres etc that one squeezes, brushes, caresses onto the canvas and blobs of white over gold creating soaring seagulls. Light pulsates back and forth across the ocean and one can imagine that at this very moment God is composing a sublime symphony in light and colour before our very eyes. The tiny boat in the distance symbolises our eternal struggle to reach paradise.
